The Extralink OPIM-1500W voltage converter is a device that converts the battery output voltage (direct current, DC) into 230V AC (alternating current). 230V AC is the type of current provided by utilities to power standard household appliances such as TV, refrigerator, radio, lighting, or to charge a laptop/mobile phone, etc. If you already have a charged battery, connecting an inverter will enable you to power household appliances in areas without access to the electric grid; for example, in a camper, caravan, boat, allotment or other remote location. Inverters are also ideal for off-grid systems and backup power systems in case of accidental power outages. It is a modified sine wave inverter, which means that the 230V AC output is an approximated sine wave. This solution is cheaper than pure sine wave inverters, but due to the characteristics of the current output, it is not recommended for use with induction motors, such as those used for central heating furnaces.
