The application currently runs on Android version 6 or higher and on iOS version 14.1 or higher. Updates to the app provided by the manufacturer are free of charge. The advantage of the application is that it will be refined and expanded all the time. The GL-SMART app can be downloaded from the Google Play store and the App Store. It should be noted that the MEASUREMENT ASSISTANT® function is only intended to help interpret measurements, it cannot be the basis for a clear answer to the question of whether the car has had body and paint repairs. Nevertheless, a lot of car appraisers do not really know what a given paint thickness means, so the above function is intended to help with this. GL-PRO-SMART-FAZ paint thickness gauges have a function to help detect the zinc layer on steel sheets. This is a useful feature especially when looking for a used car. Quite often in cars after road traffic collisions the entire body element, such as a fender, is replaced. Such an element if it is new and will be painted in accordance with the art, it is difficult to verify whether it is original or a replacement by only measuring the thickness of the paint - indications may show that the element is original factory. Counterparts of body parts produced by different companies are often not coated with a layer of zinc. Of course, in order to distinguish such an element, the rest of the car must be of galvanized steel, which will be detected by the meter (FeZn indication). For example, if you get a zinc indication on one fender and no such indication on the other, it may mean that the element was replaced. When measuring on such galvanized steel, which the meter will be able to detect, the display will show FeZn information, and when measuring on ungalvanized steel the display will show Fe information. The meters have a spring-loaded measuring head, which is constructed in such a way that it "slides" into the probe housing when the probe is pressed against the tested surface. This makes the measurement more accurate due to the more uniform pressure on the surface under test. Hand vibrations are also equalized. The calibration - zeroing function ensures that the meter will measure correctly in all conditions, even after several years of use.
