The OPV-8/R surge arrester effectively protects the transmission line by allowing surge current to dissipate to the ground, thus providing proper surge protection for electronic equipment. Our statistics collected from many years of service indicate that about 25% of damage to electronic equipment was caused by surges. The OPV-8/R causes no loss of signal quality and is a passive device requiring no power supply. NOTE: Before installation, please read the following recommendations: Connection work must not be performed during a thunderstorm. The OPV-8/R should be connected to a good grounding system. The limiter should be placed as close as possible to the protected device OPV-8/R is not symmetrical and the protected device should be connected to the "PROTECTED DEVICE" output BNC sockets. On the other hand, the "LINE" BNC sockets are connected to the transmission line on which a surge may occur.
