MCT82M series readers are indoor access terminals designed for use in RACS 5 access control system. Readers act as a slave device to the access controller and cannot independently supervise the passage.

MCT82M terminals allow both reading of the proximity card serial number (CSN) and programmable number (PCN) stored in encrypted memory sectors on the card. The use of the programmable card number protects the card against duplication, which significantly increases the security level of the entire access control system. Readers with the IO option are equipped with a set of input and output lines, which in most cases allows complete operation of the passage without the need to use inputs and outputs located on the access controller or expansion module.

The reader provides three parametric input lines, which can be individually parameterized in terms of response time and topology of attached contacts and resistors. Optionally, the inputs can be configured for double wiring mode, which allows attaching two independent NO or NC contacts to each input and thus doubling the number of input signals monitored by the reader. The reader has two transistor outputs and one relay output. Each of the outputs can be in the idle state off (so-called normal polarity) or on (so-called reverse polarity). The relay output provides a normally-closed and a normally-open contact.

Communication with the controller is via a modified RS485 standard, which allows star and tree type wiring structures. The communication bus to which the reader is attached can be up to 1200 m long and can be made using any type of signal cable. Configuration of the device and firmware update is carried out via RS485 interface and RogerVDM program (Windows).

The reader's faceplate is made of special plastic with similar scratch resistance to glass, but unlike glass, shatterproof. The reader's casing has a design-neutral appearance, similar to the widespread style of electrical fixtures, thanks to which it blends well into both traditional and modern interiors, as well as those of historical and museum character.
